The Challenge

First Grade International, a leading global supplier of coconut-based ingredients based in Bromsgrove (who would have thought!) wanted to install a solar energy system as a major step in their ongoing sustainability journey. As well as being able to generate clean, renewable energy on-site, reduce reliance on traditional power sources while cutting both their carbon footprint and energy costs, First Grade were keen to improve their resilience to power outages.

Why Econergy?

Econergy was able to propose a system, based on SigEnergy technology, designed to contribute more than 50% of First Grade's annual electricity requirements and provide a zero milli-second switch over to solar and battery power, supplemented by a generator if needed, providing off-grid capability in the event of power outages, all with a payback of within five years.

Our Solution

Econergy formulated a system design that made best use of First Grade's office roof and used SigEnergy inverter (controller), gateway and battery energy storage technology to deliver the resilience required.

The system was installed within a week with minimal disruption to First Grade's operations.

Results & Impact

  • Installed in late August 2025, the system has generated over 5.4MWh during the first 84 days of operation (in autumnal and winter weather conditions) and contributed over 40% of First Grade’s electricity needs, substantially reducing their energy bills.
